CYKOSE is a dark and intense story about Lulu and Mads, who both have experienced something extreme and supernatural. The meeting between them, leads to a wild and risky search for answers, that ends up having consequences for them both. It is raw realism merged with a supernatural universe.

After a party with a little too many shots, Lulu ends up in the hospital, where she in a near-death-experience sees a crowned girl, screaming for help. When Lulu comes to her senses, the girl is gone. But from this moment, nothing is as it was. It is like someone, or something is following her. At the same time, she meets the infamous, but fascinating Mads, who turns out to be able to see thing, no one else can. Had Lulu known, what would happen and what it would lead to, she would have stayed far away from Mads…

Producer Julie Rix Bomholt says: “It is an incredible and unique opportunity to work with a pure genre film which also touches an important and current theme. Zoe and August ARE Lulu and Mads, and we pinch ourselves to have found two such talented and young actors. They have a very special presence and a mutual intensity that almost sparks. We can’t wait to watch their talent unfold on the camera and on the big screen”.

Thomas Diepeveen in TV2’ new series ‘Chorus Girls’

We find ourselves in 1975, where eight young and beautiful female dancers have been chosen to their dream job in the Danish show Cirkusrevyen. The series turns the camera to the girls and zooms in on the slightly dressed dancers starring behind the great stars in the show.

The Danish tradition of revue is a piece of history itself, and a tradition the writers love and is very fascinated by. The series is an energetic cocktail of humor, pain, show, and unity served in a modern way, cause even though the show is set in the 70’s, it is not a series for the museum.

'Chorus Girls' is an entertaining and relevant series, where we are re-telling a piece of the Danish history and tries to makes up for the blind side, where we have been reduced women as a background extra in the world. In these years we are in a progress of a paradigm shift, and therefore there is room for new stories and a critical look at the past”, says the two creators, Ditte Hansen and Louise Mieritz.

They continue: “The last couple of years we have learned though the MeToo-movement, that there still are a large culture of silence that must be dealt with. Women still need to share their stories and to be believed in, to find the strength to change. By placing our history in 1975 we make a perspective to the present and understands that this is not something we can solve in one day, because sexism unfortunately is so deeply anchored in our culture and our history. Therefore, it is important to talk open about it, rewrite the history and don’t become silent again.”

The series is an ensemble story about eight women and the main character, the dancer Sussie is portrayed by Marie Bach Hansen, while the other dancers is played by Mille Lehfeldt, Olivia Joof Lewerissa, Marie Reuther, Andrea Heick Gadeberg, Nanna Finding Koppel, Coco Hjardemaal and Rebecca Rønde Kiilerich. Other cast members include Anders W. Berthelsen, Jakob Oftebro, Esben Dalgaard, Louise Mieritz, Ditte Hansen, Annika Aakjær, Helle Dolleris and Andreas Bo.

'Chorus Girls' is written and instructed by Ditte Hansen and Louise Mieritz, and the series is produced by Apple Tree Production with Piv Bernth as exective producer, Dorthe Riis Lauridsen as producer and Jennifer Green as executive producer for TV2.

The Tv-series is premiered on TV2 and TV2 Play on the 29th of January 2023.

Christopher Læssø in ‘Empire’

Christopher Læssø stars in a supporting role in 'Empire'. The feature film will celebrate the world premiere in the Nordic Competition at Göteborgborg Film Festival starting on January 26.

EMPIRE is a story about power and mutual addiction, and with both deep seriousness and absurd humor it challenges the Danish historical amnesia. The movie is set on Saint Croix, the Danish west Indian islands, and the year is 1848. Anna Heegaard and Petrine is close friends. They are both women of color, but their way of life are completely different. Anna is a free woman and owner of the enslaved Petrine. Anna is living with the general governor Peter von Scholten at their country house, where she runs the house, the economy, and the beloved and trusted housekeeper Petrine. Everything is as it’s supposed to be, until the rumor about a rebellion begins to spread. Which side is Anna and Petrine standing on - and is it the same?

EMPIRE is nominated for the main competition at Gøteborg Film Festival and the prestigious Dragon Award, and thereby gets its world premiere at the film festival.

EMPIRE is Frederikke Aspöcks first historical project: “The movie turns the Danish colonial history upside down and challenges Denmark’s romanticized self-image. The world history is as known written by and for white men. EMPIRE has therefore conscious placed Afro-Caribbean female characters in the center of the narrative – enslaved as well as free”, says Frederikke Aspöck.

Anna Neye continues: “The same way women have been outwritten from the history of Denmark, the many colored Danish lives, have been as well. Visibility matters. EMPIRE is an art back-stage history experienced from a female perspective, where we have strived to dare to create colored people as whole characters. As a colored Dane, I sincerely hope the time, where colored Danes is just a footnote in the Danish history, has come to an end. It would be nice if we at least have our own chapter”.

Screenwriter Anna Neye is best known for the satire-series “Normalerweize” (2004-2011), which she developed together with Lærke Winther. She received the Danish Dramatist’s talent award in 2007 and has since 2009 primarily been occupied as a screenwriter. Anna got the idea for EMPIRE after a trip to the Danish West Indies, where she afterwards contacted Frederikke Aspöck.

EMPIRE is starring Anna Neye and Sara Fanta Traore in the leading roles as Anna and Petrine, while Claus Riis Østergaard plays von Scholten and Admiral Irminger is played by Jesper Groth.

It premieres in Danish cinemas on April 20.

Rasmus Hammerich in a supporting role in the new Department Q film ‘Boundless’

The popular series about Carl Mørck and Department Q, is returning to the big screen with the film adaption of the 6th book. The new Danish crime thriller 'Boundless' is based on fiction guru Jussi Adler-Olsen’s 'Den Grænseløse'.

Nordisk Film has confirmed that ‘Boundless’ has started filming in the beginning of September 2022, where Rasmus Hammerich has landed a supporting role. The filming takes place in Latvia, Copenhagen and on the Danish island Bornholm, where the movie is also set. The popular duo of Carl Mørck and his assistant Assad is sent on a mission to the Danish island, where an old mystery about a dead girl hanging from a tree is brought to life and leads to a secret solar cult on the island.

Danish director Ole Christian Madsen, credited for the HBO series “Banshee” (2013-16) and WWII drama “Flame & Citron” starring Mads Mikkelsen, has taken up the challenge of bringing Adler-Olsen’s suspenseful universe to the silver screens, working from a script by Jakob Weis.

Christian Madsen will reunite with his “Banshee” actor Ulrich Thomsen. The latter reprises the role of detective Carl Mørck, which he played in Nordisk Film Production’s previous Department Q film version, “The Marco Effect”.

“’Boundless’ is a thought-provoking and fascinating thriller about revenge, power and submission, but especially about the limitlessness of people. In a world like today that has so many ways never been more limitless, ‘Boundless’ becomes unsettlingly present and current. Jakob Weis has written a nerve-wracking, action-packed and characterful script based on Jussi's book. And I agreed to direct the film because I think it has great potential to be an entertaining and relevant thriller with a creepy look into a fascinating and closed world.” Ole Christian Madsen says about making the movie.

'Boundless' is set to be released in theatres on feburary 1st 2024.

‘Medieval’ – Cinematography by Jesper Tøffner

Jesper Tøffner is the Director of Photography on the historical epic 'Medieval', starring Ben Foster, Michael Caine and Danish Roland Møller and many more. The world premiere of 'Medieval' will take place today on September 5th in Prague.

Inspired by the true story of Jan Žižka, one of greatest warriors in history. After the death of its reigning emperor, the Holy Roman Empire is plummeting into chaos while feuding brothers King Wenceslas of Czech and King Sigismund of Hungary battle for control of the empty throne. Daring and righteous mercenary leader Jan Žižka (Ben Foster) is hired by Lord Boresh (Michael Caine) to kidnap the powerful Lord Rosenberg's (Til Schweiger) fiancée, Lady Katherine (Sophie Lowe), to prevent Rosenberg's rise to power alongside the corrupt King Sigismund. As Katherine becomes caught in a dangerous political game between the monarchs, Jan falls in love with her strong spirit and dedication to saving the people. In a brave attempt to liberate her, he fights back with a rebel army to battle the corruption, greed, and betrayal rampant amongst those clawing for power. Jan now realizes that the fate of the Empire will be decided by his love for Lady Katherine and that his fate doesn’t lie in the hands of Kings, but in the hands of his own people.

“Jan Žižka is a story about the birth of a warlord, and I think people will be surprised by the way it is conceived. The story plays out in 1402 during Žižka’s youth before the Hussite Wars. It has everything one needs to know about that time period to understand it. The film also features plenty of fighting, but above all a very strong story that takes you on a ride to the very end.” says the director Petr Jákl.
