Julie R. Ølgaard graduated at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in 2002. Since then, she has become an established part of the Danish scene, having acted in several roles for both TV series, such as the acclaimed DR production, Forbrydelsen (‘The Killing’), and in movies such as Efter Brylluppet (‘After the Wedding’) and Dig og Mig (‘Crying for Love’).
Internationally, Ølgaard has acted in several productions, such as 'Fortune Defires Death', 'Run Faster' and the movie adaptation of the Jo Nesbø novel 'Headhunters'. Additionally, Julie R. Ølgaard also appeared in the TV drama series, 'In an Instant'.
Besides her vast acting career, Ølgaard has experience in both writing, directing and producing. This is on display in her short film, ‘Trigger’, (2017) starring acclaimed actors such as Ellen Hillingsø and Stine Fischer Christensen. In 2021, Ølgaard’s short film ‘We’ll always have Paris’ premiered and was selected to Ekko’s Shortlist.
Julie R. Ølgaard has also experienced much success with the YouTube series ‘NIPS’, which she created with her former ‘Dig og Mig’ co-stars, Laura Christensen og Neel Rønholt. In 2020, Julie R. Ølgaard was on tour performing the critically acclaimed play ‘Mødre’ (‘Mothers’) and was starring in the TV series ‘Fogedretten’. In the begining of 2022, she appears in the new ‘Krummerne’ produced by Regner Grasten Film.
On June 23, Julie premieres with her new feature film, 'The Angel Maker' a psycological thriller, where she both stars in the leading role, and co-directs.
